As part of your hassle-free experience, we have a customer contact centre, based at our Sheffield site, who are here to help you choose your ideal car and get you the best deal. We’ll even give you a valuation of your part exchange over the phone before you visit our sites to make sure you are totally satisfied before you have to make the journey. Running the sales team are Martin and Kev, who have nearly 50 years between them in the motor trade.
Kev has been with The Car People since 2005 and already knew some of the team previously. Believe it or not, Kev used to work down in the mines, Kiveton Park Colliery to be exact, for 5 years before they were shut down. After selling off his own landscaping business, Kev then entered the motor trade, having experience with several brands, including Mitsubishi, Vauxhall and Renault, before being influenced by his friends at The Car People to join them.
There is a lot that Kev loves about his role, from the buzz of helping customers find their ideal car, to offering the best part exchange valuations against our competitors and, using his 22 years’ experience in the trade. Valuing around 50 cars a day correctly involves motor trade knowledge, up to date product information and a lot of research as we aim to give a top price first time round. He also spends a lot of his time helping the team, advising them on the best way to assist a potential customer.
Due to his 6 years’ experience selling Renaults, Kev has quite a soft spot for them due to their comfort, high specification and value for money. However, aside for the obvious dream supercar, Kev aspires for the new Renault Alaskan pick-up truck, being an avid DIY’er.
Martin has only been working for The Car People for 3 years, but has nearly as much experience in the motor trade as Kev, having come from a management role at a Renault dealer after 12 years. Not surprisingly, Martin also has a soft spot for Renaults. Martin chose The Car People after hearing nothing but good things from people he knew already working here and liked our approach to car sales compared to his previous employers.
The one thing Martin enjoys the most about his role is the job satisfaction associated with advisors taking his coaching on board and helping customers get the best deal. He is especially proud that one of the people he has coached has now been promoted into a Sales Controller position responsible for the quality of web chats and emails.
As for his dream car? If money was no object, Martin would love a Ferrari 488 GTB. However, as he has a wife, two kids and a dog, he will be more than happy with the new BMW 3 Series (In Estoril Blue, of course!)
They both have an amazing amount of energy and always come to work in a great mood. (despite them both knocking on a bit)
